How to Create the Perfect Floor Plan for your Commercial Space
A smart and functional floor plan is essential for a commercial building. It can also increase the efficiency of the building if you create easy access and flow between different spaces. There are a few factors to take into consideration when planning out your floor plan and we're going to cover all of them here.
Get Rid of Excess Space
We're starting off here because you need to think long and hard about what kind of space you want, and the space that you have to work with. Ask yourself if all of the spaces you want to have are necessary and if the answer is no, you might want to consider removing sections that can serve the same function.
Think About the Flow
Once you have your desired floor plan laid out, walk through it to see if it flows nicely. Are each departments large enough for the products or services? Is there enough storage?
Think about how the floor plan will allow space for your business to grow by providing functionality. If your flow is off, everything else will be, too.
This one is similar to number getting rid of excess space, but instead of eliminating it all together, we're simply consolidating it into one large space. For example, make sure that all areas that need plumbing are near each other so that you don't have multiple plumbing cores that can increase the cost of your building exponentially.
Cut Down the Need for a Large Storage Space
Obviously, because you're a commercial business, you'll need space. But that doesn't mean that you have to have multiple areas for storage! You might want to make one storage space and consolidate the others that you're not using. This will dramatically increase the effectiveness your office space and make the overall flow a lot more efficient.
